Birkebeinerene were
and old norwegian kind of people. They are famous for bringing the first Norwegian king, Håkon Håkonsen (b. 1204) safely from Oslo to Trondheim. He was just a little baby then - and barely survived the rough trip. There was a lot of enemies trying to take his place as king.
